Hence, Knickerbocker introduced sweatshirts but thicker than before and with the hoodies. During this time, they also started approaching the schools in the US and introduced this concept there which was soon widely accepted and adopted by the school kids. Slowly and gradually hoodies became a household name across the globe. Thanks to our celebs especially the famous rappers like Drake, Eminem, and others have given fuel to it.
A couple of decades ago, it was a bit difficult to find these unless one was visiting a sports store. All these would offer was hoodies with gigantic logos in the middle endorsing their brand names. Hence, neither did we have access to a variety of designs nor did were these easily available everywhere.
However, things have changes because trends have changed! Every brand or local clothing store cannot ignore hoodies in their winter collections. Hoodies are like casual wears that most people wear almost every day throughout the winters – may it be their homes, at a party, on the sports field, or while going out for groceries at a nearby shop which is why we can see available in a variety of colors, designs, sizes, and fabrics material while their prices could vary largely depending on the brand that’s selling and to whom it is targeting.
A few years back, hoodies with images of attractive women, or cool beaches, or a band were quite trendy. A few brands even started offering customized hoodies where they’d sell hoodies with images as per the customers’ request or choice. Moreover, they’d have them in a variety of colors to meet the consumers’ demand. A few years later, hoodies with different prints such as polka dots, leaves, anchors, etc. became the new trend but soon they became outdated as well. Lately, we’ve seen simple hoodies without any prints or images becoming the new trend and followed by most people. Such hoodies look decent yet stylish at the same time.
In the 90s and early 2000s, hoodies with loose-fitting were quite common. These were mostly endorsed by the rapper community across the world. A few years later while all other outfits such as blazers, jackets, and shirts were getting shorter and fitter, similar trends were seen in the hoodies category as well. People with nicer built would like to flaunt them while wearing slim-fit hoodies. Then came the longer hoodies with round bottoms and broader hoods to give them a rougher and tougher look. Moreover, we also observed variations in the hood from time to time. From fitted hoods to the regular ones, they all reined from time to time.
Hoodies have become such widely accepted that designers and brands have started incorporating them in jackets as well. For the past few winters, short and long jackets especially puffers have been seen with hoodies. Moreover, to give them a newer look they have added furs in the hood which look stylish and cozy at the same time.
In a nutshell, hoodies have become a part of our lives in the winters. They have been widely accepted and adopted by people across the world from all age groups. Gone are the days when those were only considered as sports outfits limited to people on the ground or some workers at a factory or mountain climbers. All thanks to the innovative designers and brands around the world who have modified this category to make it a household commodity for all. However, it would be exciting to see how the hoody trends change over time – whether we see some newer trends or older ones reviving like the double-breast blazers.
